Sunflowers season in Dorset

Moments of Gold

As the last petals fall and the sunflower fields at North Horton Farm return to rest for the year, I’ve found myself reflecting on one of my favourite times. 🌻Next year the field will be filled with a different crop.

Every year, sunflower season is short — just a few golden weeks in late summer when the fields bloom into something extraordinary. And every year, it reminds me just how magical it is to capture people in that fleeting, golden light.

These weren’t just photo shoots — they were moments, and that’s what I love most. The kind of moments you can feel in a photograph long after the flowers are gone.

What Made This Season Special

The Light

The golden-hour glow at North Horton Farm was incredible this year. There were evenings where the sun dipped just right behind the hills, flooding the entire field in a warm haze that made every photo feel like a dream.

The People

I feel incredibly lucky to work with such kind, open-hearted clients. So many of you trusted me to capture milestones of your family’s in photos and it was an honour to witness those chapters in such a stunning place. My heartfelt thanks to the farmer who owns the farm and land around the sunflowers. I made sure i had permission to take photos on their land. They were so welcoming and hospitable. Even having local vendors selling Pizza and coffee!

The Field Itself

The sunflowers were vibrant this year — tall, bold, and bursting with life. They brought a real sense of joy and movement to the images, whether used as a dramatic backdrop or as playful elements woven into a scene.

It was lovely to have the chance to photograph families and help me to develop in this genre of photography which i am enjoying more and more.

I was lucky enough to have some of my images feature on the BBC and also in the local papers.

I plan to do some Autumn shoots. If you would like to know more please let me know and book something in !
